Kelis: Back to Music Scene with New will.i.am Deal

Though, as of late, her name has been tabloid fodder due to her high-profile divorce from rapper Nas, Grammy Award-nominated singer Kelis is ready to get back to her first love - music.

The 30 year-old new mother leaked a David Guetta-produced track called 'Acapella' on the website Twitter last week. Today, (Dec. 2) the Harlem native confirmed that she's signed a new deal with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am's imprint, will.i.am Music Group and Interscope Records. The pair previously collaborated on three tracks from her 2006 album 'Kelis Was Here.'

Acts such as Fergie, Macy Gray, Sergio Mendes and LMFAO have released music via the label.

Since reportedly being dropped in late 2007 from her former label home, Jive Records, Kelis has been relatively quiet on the music scene.

Of her new deal, the 'Milkshake' singer said, "I love that I am not a new part of the Interscope family."

So far, Kelis has recorded music with Free School, DJ Ammo, Burnz and Boyz Noize for her as-yet-untitled upcoming album. She said she is ready to share the new tunes with the world.

"2010 is around the corner and I can't wait to put out new music and spend time with real music fans on tour again."

No word on when her new album will be released.
