The Church and the Community

I was having a conversation with a friend last week about how much preachers in the mega churches make and my friend was completely offended by the exhorbitant salaries some of the preachers collected. I stated that these mega churches (though sometimes pretentious and capitalistic) have great outreach programs and money is needed to fund said programs. My friend was grossly offended by all of the private jets and "pulpit pimps" and I agree to some extend. Here is a thought...shouldn't churches play a larger role in the development of the community?

It seems like there is a church on every corner. One could argue that if a parishioner is in debt, physically unhealthy, or under-educated that these things can affect their spiritual development. How can you truly be at your best spiritually if your physical life is in need of repair? So, I moved into action to create the Church Community Center concept that I hope each and every church would adopt on some level. You can rate the success of a church by the overall well-being of its members.
